Commercial Description:
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Bottle, dark brown with a bubbly beige head. A strong roasted aroma, mostly coffee but also sweeter caramal notes. Carbonated and overly tart for me on the palate, but soem roasted malt flavours with a sweeter and hoppy fruit touch. Maybe I have had this a bit warm, as don’t rate it as highly as others.

Dark body with brown head. Hint of rosted malts and slighty sweet and a hint of nutyness in the aroma. It has a nice smooth palate. Finish is good, not many negatives to report on.

Dark brown/black beer with a light brown head. Sweet toffee and milk chocolate aroma. A bit of earthiness and lightly herbal hop aroma as well. The malts are quite bready and sweet smelling. Good body with soft carbonation. The flavour is also slightly sweeet with chocolate and cocoa the most apparent. There is a faintly industrial pale malt aspect lurking in back that is a bit distracting, but the beer is pleasant enough.

Serving: 500 mL bottle (7% ABV). Thanks Matt!
Event: Weekly Friday night tasting.
Location: River’s Bend Wine & Spirits.

Tasting Notes
Aroma: Chocolate, cream, and a little smoke.
Appearance: Nearly opaque dark brown color with some ruby red highlights. The head is small, creamy, and dark beige/light brown in color.
Flavor: Rich chocolate and cocoa with some smoked/char and aged dark fruits. Roasty finish. Mellow bitterness (just enough to add balance and depth). Just a touch of alcohol is noticeable in the flavor.
Palate: Smooth and creamy.
Overall: An excellent Baltic Porter at a great price! Quite tasty.

Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Has some lacing. Has hints of roasted malts, chocolate, and barley. Has a great taste from beginning to end. Finishes sweet on the palate.

This poured with a dark body and had a large white head. The aroma had some soap and caramel candy. There was also a hint of cologne. The taste was sweet potatoes with some bad vanilla ice cream. There was also a little bit of bread crust

Dark reddish brown colour with a little nice head. Strong aroma of roastedness and alcohol. Also flavour of soft maltness combined with roastedness and alcohol. Ends up very alcoholic and with a touch of chocolate.

500ml bottle from a superstore in Арха́нг&# Russia (thanks to Per-Einar). Pours a body black as pitch under a huge brownish head with lots of bubbles blanketing the glass. Rounded aroma of dark malts. Quite well made brew with malty keenness and roasted barley. Some hints of anise and chocolate break through in a long flavoured tail. Good and lasting mouthfeel (23.03.2007).
