Feb 27, 2007 Updated: Oct 31, 2007Not big/intense in flavor but it’s actually pretty good. Light-bodied and finishes ultra-clean, which is rather distinctive. I picked up some Scottish qualities in the aroma.

Feb 27, 2007 Poured a very dark, almost black. Very good head. Took a couple minutes to complete the pour. Plenty of frothy head is left after first drink.
Smell is dark roasted malts. There is some roastiness coming through as well as some alcohol.
Taste is pretty much the same as the nose. However, I’m finding what I think is some kind of candied sugar in the taste. This tastes really good.
Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Soft and not a lot of carbonation to be found.
Even at 7% this is highly sessionable. I could drink this all day without a problem. I really like this baltic porter.

Feb 27, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark black red, with tan head. Aroma is coffee, molasses, pine, malt, banana. Flavor is molasses, banana, coffee, malt, slight anise, caramel, chocolate, nutty. Pretty good.

Feb 25, 2007 Bottle. Above average light brown frothy head leads into a black body that is impenetrable to light. Coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts are presented in the aroma. Good lacing. Medium body. Oily texture. Nice bitter (roasted malts) finish. If this beer was expensive I would probably be a little harder on it, but $1.99 is a steal. Who knew anything so tasty, other than vodka, would come from Russia.

Feb 24, 2007 Bottle at Brickskeller in DC. Not as impressed as I thought I’d be when drinking this. Aroma is slightly that of chocolate and roasted notes. Flavor is coffee and alcohol which I didn’t think was masked too well.

Feb 23, 2007 A great looking beer. A deep black body and big thick tan head. Mild aroma of raisen with a hint of chocolate. Taste of plumb, coffee and moderate alcohol. Burnt flavors present themselves at the finish.

Feb 14, 2007 Dark brown, tan frothy head. Not much aroma, a bit of coffee and malt. Flavor is sweeter with malt and a lot of chocolate. A bit thin, not much finish, but pretty tasty.
