(500 ml bottle "best before 20.05.06" via trade with Degarth, thanks Joe!) Pours a very dark birch-beer brown with about 1" of almost perfect-looking, tight tan head that slowly recedes to about 1/4" and stays put. Aroma of rich molasses, raisins and chocolate. Mouthfeel soft and creamy, yet also dry and kind of prickly. Nice rings of lacing. Flavor to me was mostly a dry chocolate, with the moderately sweet molasses and raisins emerging as well. Pretty tasty but was hoping for a bolder, richer flavor. Didn’t really care for the dryishness either. There is a mild alcohol burn as well.

Bottled. Pours a blackish brown with a diminishing brown head. Aroma is spicy, with a bit of chocolate. The body is medium, creamy with moderate carbonation. The taste is sweet, with roasty malt, prunes, chocolate and nuts leading to a spicy, lightly bitter finish. A surprisingly big beer for a porter. (An Imperial Baltic Porter?)

1 Pt. 9 oz. bottle. Poured black with dark red brown edges and an average size, mostly lasting creamy tan head. Aromas are heavy malt: coffee, cola, molasses, chocolate covered Turkish delight, and some faint alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, but never harshly so. Some notes of amaretto as the glass warms. Average carbonation, medium body, clean mouthfeel. Has many charcteristics of the imperial porter, but not as top heavy, and thus I find it more enjoyable. A pleasant surprise.

,5L. Pours dark brown with a massive, diminishing tan head. Super-chocolatey nose, with some dust. High-carb medium body (a little fizzy, actually, but it’s come a long way). Chocolatey, roasty, biscuity palate with a very mild floral hop finish--almost free of bitter by pacific northwest standards. Very delicious drinkable beer.

Bottle shared with GregClow, jerc & tupalev at our Hotel in Michigan -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours dark brown with an average size semi-lasting tan head. Aroma of dark malt, dark fruit and some alcohol. Sweet malty flavour with some dark fruit and a hint of coffee. Decent body, a touch thin but not enough to detract. Nothing special but it’s enjoyable enough and I liked it.
