Allen (1282), Switzerland Jul 7, 2009 Bottled 50cl. It pours a pitch black with a small, slightly fizzy beige head. The aroma is mainly of raisin, plum, wood, molasses, vanilla and port. A lot of raisin showing up in the taste. Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Sweet, malt accentuated with a low bitterness. Gluey, woody with hints of molasses and vanilla. Not much lacework. Residual sugars in the finish which is gluey, reminiscent of cane sugar, plums, wood and caramel. Decent. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA Jun 27, 2009 500mL bottle: Apeerance is pitch black with slow fading tand head, aroma is pretty much nonexistant, flavor is very light for a porter hints of chocolate and pale malt but really very light tasting. SeanMacGC (233), Dublin, Ireland Jun 20, 2009 Bottle, 500 ml. Pours a flat opaque, but rather appealing dark mahogany. Not too much on the nose, and quite rounded on the palate, somewhat reminiscent of a doppelbock. bluemooner (229), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 17, 2009 Pours a very dark brown-ruby color with a foamy, medium, tan head. Aroma contians lightly roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, and raisins. Body is very thin and smooth. Tastes of roasted malts, caramel, raisins, prunes, chocolate, and molasses. Very sweet flavor with a bit of roastiness overall. Decent. CanIHave4Beers (831), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 1, 2009 Pours with a very small tight head with a deep brown almost black color. The aroma is very sweet and malty with some molasses and chocolate. The flavor has notes of plum, nuts, berries, and chocolate. The beer is overall pretty sweet but has enough dryness and alcohol to provide the needed balance. Alasdair (76), New Zealand May 29, 2009 low aroma of alcohol and cocoa. Alcohol comes through in the flavour too, wth plum skins, dark chocolate, and raisins. Would’ve liked a little more bitterness to balance the sweetness. grandemahatma (2), Italy does not count May 26, 2009 bottle. dark brown colour, dirty-white foam, big bubbles. sweet flavour with a nice roasted body. not too dense nor sticky, pleasant for the palate. quite easy to drink and definetly a enjoyable drink! Cavie (1300), Fort Worth, Texas, USA May 25, 2009 Weak smell for a porter. Small taste as well, little malts with a fading finish. I need more of a Russian kick.
