maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 24, 2006 Dark black color with a medium light head. Aroma of molassas and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt with hints of coffee. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Feb 24, 2006 Deep brown body with a medium volume brown head. Nice dark fruit aroma in addition to the mollasses and malts. Heavy coffee and bacon flavors, malts are very accented. Clean ending, very nice porter. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Feb 15, 2006 Looked great, but this thing was an oxidized mess. Flavor was vegetably and not really very porter like at all after it warmed... only slight hints of coffee and molasses. Much more pepper (vegetable), rice, slight czech hopping. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Feb 14, 2006 From a bottle. Pours a rather attractive black color with a thick and fluffy tan head. Aroma reminds me of artificially sweetened molasses product. Watery start to this beer with a harsh, imitation molasses aftertaste that produces a cringe not unlike my first taste of cough syrup. Looks thick, feels thin. All around nasty. ATOmemphis (200), Franklin, Tennessee, USA Feb 13, 2006 Pours deep blackish/brown with light creamy tan head. Size wasn’t great on the head, and it did dissipate - a minus for porters/stouts in my opinion. Not much to smell, though mine was slightly colder than need be. The Best Before Date was exceeded by 4 months exactly (to the day). But the taste was quite good. Not so hoppy like the description offers, but quite smooth with light coffee, hazelnut, and cream/creamy chocolate flavors. Very nice for a mild/calm brew. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Feb 12, 2006 Bottle. Black colour with a tan head. Roasted malty flavor with some hints of coffee. Roasted flavor with molasses and hints of coffee and chocolate. A little thin roasted finish. ehhdayton (1113), USA Feb 10, 2006 The aroma is of roasted coffee and chocolate malts. The beer pours a deep black with a tan head. There is a slight coffee and chocolate flavor and the finish is fairly mild. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA Feb 9, 2006 500ml bottle. Pours an insidiously dark opaque brown-black, producing a big ol’ fluffy dense long-lasting head that leaves clumps of lace on the sides of the glass. A porter doesn’t get any prettier than this. Aroma of light toasted grain, chocolate, inviting alcohol and an unfortunate metallic note. Flavor is big smooth chocolate, dry grain, slight toasted bitterness, a touch of alcohol, and a nifty hop spice that hints of licorice. Creamy but bafflingly thin palate. More body would make this really good porter an exceptional porter. Still, definitely something I would drink again.
