Commercial Description:
A traditional dark beer based on old recipes. "Baltika" brews this beer with the best dark and light malts with the addition of superior hop types and a special strain of yeast. Crystal-clear water and the secret touch of "Baltika"'s brewers make this a beer of unsurpassable quality.
The ingredients are water, caramel malt and burnt roasted malt, maltose syrup and hops. 17°

Rerated: blackish pour. Grain, chocolate, cocoa, and caramel in aroma. Medium bodied, somewhat sweet. A little bit rough but overall bland and misses the style.

Clear chestnut brown with no head. Nice roasty nutty aroma. Medium body with light carbonation. Nice flavors of dark roasted malts with a lightly sweet black licorice taste. Not too bad.

Wow, what a little suprise we have here. This has to be the jewel in this brewery’s rusty crown. A chocolatey aroma. The apperance is black with a small beige head. A very rich flavor with some cappucino and chocolate. Not too sweet its very well balanced. Dont be scared away by the price or the source, this is a must try.

500ml bottle, best by September 9th, 2007 - oops. Based on previous Baltika experience, I can’t imagine it will matter much. Very dark brown with a big, foamy, light brown head. Big, sweet malt nose, molasses and a wisp of smoke. Rather dry, flavors are charcoal and raisin with a pop of anise, burnt malt is evident. Body is the thin side of medium. Decent lace. Far better than expected.

Bottle brought back for me from Kazakhstan. Very dark, coffee coloured foam head. Aroma is rich and roasty with banana. Flavour is sweet and slightly roasty, clean tasting and rather bitter.
