Aroma has the roastyness that I love, plus there is a hint of anise that gets me going. Appearance is a deep black color with highlights of red around the outside. The flavor is, of course, the best part with a nice molasses, roasty hoppy bite to it that is very clean. Enjoyable and it’s usually a repeat purchase when in stock. NachlamSie (1644), Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2005 bottle. Pours black with an even light tan head. Noticeable alcohol in the nose, but it blends quite well with the very sweet roastiness which has a strangely vinous quality. Really dense caramel malts give this a scotch ale quality. There’s a bit of coffee too, but it’s like old stale coffee. The sweet foundation is the most prominent thing and does well to balance any bitterness in this brew. douglas88 (1643), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

The aroma is roasted malts and some sweet brown sugar. The taste is pretty good; sweet molasses and brown sugar, some roasted malts, and a nice alcohol burn. For 7% this is really quite warm. Overall, I liked it. It is a smooth and sweet porter. jerohen (1615), Bussum, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2004 Very dark colour, small brown head. Sweet malty aroma. Malts and coffee in flavour, stout-like. Bittersweet lingering finish. Solid brew. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Nose is roasty malts a caramel. Taste is chocolate, roast, sweet molasses and ash. Medium, fairly flat mouth feel. A decent porter. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 20, 2006 From a 1pt.9oz. narrow neck brown bottle with a short blurb about the porter and a best before date on the back label, 07.06.06. Made a decent
appearance, poured a opaque ruby hued dark coffee brown with a foamy tan head that settled into a thin, skim-
like foamy lacing, moderate to medium carbonation overall. Had sweet fruity/caramel lightly roasted malt nose. A
creamy, smooth light-ish medium bodied mouth feel, above average
drinkability. Watery burnt chocolate and caramel malty with a small dose of sweeten milk taste, a watery hop
bitterness and a sweet, roasted, fruity malty finish.
Like I’ve said about other Baltika
beers, average, drinkable, not awful, at a cheap price and for me, that holds true for this porter. JensenTaster (1587), Denmark
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 3, 2004 (on bottle)A sent of rotten bark of ash (the tree) and some roast. Not in a bad way, though. Noce violet/black color and a surprisingly weak taste. This most be the taste of original porter. No coffee, no liqurce and allmost no bitterness; easy drinkalble. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 19, 2005 Possibly THE best porter that I have ever tried. None of the ashey-ness that I find in 99% of the porters that I try. Lots of good choclate and coffee with a wonderful silky mouthfeel.
