Some roast/smoke/choc. Quite smooth, medium bodied, and thankfully not too sweet. Drinkable. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Nearly black beer; brown head, reasonably stable. Dark, roasted malts & grains, oatmeal porridge, brown candig sugar and sweetbread in the nose. Roasted malts and grains make a bitterish surrounding for a rather sweet beer. Speculoos and a bit smokey flavours. Finish is quite long and mainly bitterish/roasted. Slight burning, there is some alcohol detectable. Aftertaste ends chocolatey. Has several characteristics of a (rather good) Doppelbock. Nice beer, really. Has even some esters, though it is bottom-fermenting. ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2006 Almost black, slowly diminishing mid-sized "milk-coffee" head; sweet malty (dark malt, roast malt, molasses) and fruity (raisins) aroma with a touch of iron; sweet flasvour in the beginning, switching over to a dryer (malty) taste, ending with a slightly dry, lingering roastmalty/coffeeish finish with a tinge of fruitiness. Warming and complex and pleasant and well drinkable..... MoritzF (5079), Bochum, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2008 (bottle) Clear, dark, almost black coloured hue with a ruby shine and a thick beige foamy head. Sweet, dark and roast-malty aroma with caramel, cacao and liquorice. Sweet and bitter flavour, almost full bodied with a calm and smooth carbonation. Roasty malty taste with chocolate, liquorice and traces of coffee; bitter-sweet and burnt malty finish with notes of alcohol and a moderate length. Not overly fine and a tad too sweet Porter but anyway a pretty quaffable one (18.08.08). madsberg (5067), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2003 Bottled: Brown/black coloured. Huge chocolate brown head. Aroma is chocolate and light roastyness. Flavour is a bit waterish but still pleasant. Smooth chocolate notes. Alcahol totally hidden. Ends up with a mild bitterness. Miss some of the heavy action, you see in other examples of style. Cletus (5059), Connecticut, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Pours dark brwon with a tan head. Smells of raisins, some chocolate, touches of pepper. Tastes slightly bitter with chocolate winning out over coffee. Hints of dark fruit and toffee emerge as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is oily with some tingly earthy sensations. Finish is sweet. One of the better Russian beers I’ve had.
