One of the best Russian beers out there. BIg, rich, and creamy. Smooth finish with a sweet warm alcohol undercurrent. Lots of roasted malt notes. A great full bodied beer.

Bottle poured black with a smallish head. Light aroma of roasty malts. Flavor is a bit thin, but the roast and chocolate hints are evident along with a metalic aftertaste. Not bad.

I’m pretty sure I bought this bottle for $1.99, so that alone is worth a few points in the rating... black pour and generous foamy tan head, though it doesn’t last very long. Roasty coffee/caramel aromas with hint of chocolate. More of the same on the palate with a little bit of hops kicking in. A little sweet, perhaps, but a very solid beer. Definitely a good deal.

Dark brown, almost black in colour with a tan head. Vinous, slightly spicy aroma with some chocolate. Slightly sour taste with chocolate and raisins. Excellent.

bottle given to me by a man i don’t know wearing a big furry hat and had a mustache. alright I bought it at the store. black/maple pour with tan head. roasted malt, chocolate, hop aroma. sugar, caramel, roasted, nutty, alcohol. light to medium body. this beer becomes sweeter as it warms. the crystal clear water really makes this beer average.

Bottle: Deep, dark, near black brown color with a small tan head. Medium thick body. Aroma: rich, roasted, salty malts, banana, light alcohol, rum, chocolate, nuts. Taste: bitter molasses, chocolate syrup, bitter malts, mild hops towards the middle, sweet banana, wheat beer like alochol flavors, finishing bittersweet roasted flavors, with a dry hint of lighter grains.
