Aroma is the strongest side of this beer, from sweet apple-orange fruits followed by chocolate and ending with dark malt. Heavy, rich malt, burned roastiness. Interesting approach to Baltic porter style... caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 27, 2004 Bottle - a fairly simple and one dimentional aroma. Some malt. Deep brown body and a nice, tightly bubbled beige head. Fairly one dimensional - chocolate in the aroma. Chocolate, of course, in the flavor. Very drinkable and very nice! Nice maple smell, and pours with a notably brown rocky head. Has some good coffee roast malt notes, and then maple, and a little bit of honey, come back as you sip. In fact, it almost has some barley wine character that makes it well worth picking up. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 20, 2005 Bottle. Pours dark brown and opaque with faint garnet highlights when held to light. A large tan head fades slowly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is sweet, dark malts, molasses, herbs and dark bread. Sweet and slightly tart, a bit of burnt sugar and dandelion. Medium to full body and gentle carbonation. Definitely interesting and pretty nice. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Pours pitch black with brown head. Aroma is nice and of roasted carmel malt. This beer is very sweet but I guess that’s the style. Lots of carmel malt in this one. Doesn't taste of burnt malt like most porters... more like toasted malt. What I like a lot about this one is the mouthfeel- nice and round, silky smooth going down... Very little aftertaste though.
