Smells of roasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, alcohol and slight metallic tinge. The taste reminds me of an imperial stout (albeit, a much lighter version) with its dark fruit and licorice flavor up front.
Mouthfeel is smooth and rather light for a beer this dark; the beer has good carbonation and isn’t all that sticky. It finishes with a strong flavor of roasted malts, molasses and dark fruits. There is definitely a slight alcohol kick in the final notes.
The lingering flavor seems to be a mix of dark fruits, caramel, alcohol and licorice. Pretty decent brew for my first baltic porter. I could’ve used a bit more malt presence, but overall pretty tasty. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA

Served at cellar temp, it pours black with ruby highlights and a loose, frothy, beige head. On the nose are chocolate and dark roast with fruity wine-like undertones. Light to medium-bodied and almost creamy with a roasted, moderately bitter finish that includes a touch of alcohol warmth. Sweet, chocolaty, roasted malt with a noticeable hop bitterness blending into the roasted finish. It lingers sweet and roasty with notes of burnt sugar and bittering hops. Perhaps, it’s a tad sweeter than I might prefer, but it is a tasty brew. At less than $2 for a 500 ml bottle, it’s also quite a bargain. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA

Some red highlights here and there, but very dark. Huge light-caramel colored head, with brief, cotton-like lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, vanilla, roasted chocolate. Flavor is pretty varied. Caramel, chocolate, bark, toffee, licorice. A watery aftertaste that almost distracts from the flavor. Sticky, soft body. Well-balanced, and one of the easier Baltic porters to drink. Definitely enjoyable. CanIHave4Beers (880), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Pours with a very small tight head with a deep brown almost black color. The aroma is very sweet and malty with some molasses and chocolate. The flavor has notes of plum, nuts, berries, and chocolate. The beer is overall pretty sweet but has enough dryness and alcohol to provide the needed balance. AgentSteve (1374), SF Bay Area, California, USA

Nose is sweet maltiness with some dark chocolate. The flavor adds a bit more complexity with some licorice, caramel and dried fruit. Prune like in a good way. Good sippin’ porter! Has some characteristics of an imperial stout, yet not quite as hoppy as said impy. Very creamy with a strong dark fruit presence and strong, lingering tar about the mouth. Not overly complex, but strong characters are present nevertheless. Not world-class, but very good. jeff789 (395), Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of licorice, roasted malts, not overly sweet aroma at all... Flavor of some green herbs, slightly roasty, sweet candy like flavor, note of licorice, dark fruits, cherry, faint tartness, subtly complex... Medium bodied, medium mouthfeel, good beer, less full than i expected BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA

Very nice chocalatey aroma with a flavor to match. Also has some sweetness to it. Very nice!
