Jul 20, 2004 I found this beer very similar to guiness. A dry coffee taste with a unique aftertaste. The color and aroma were nice.

Nov 14, 2002 Bottled. Jet black with glints of purple and red. Good creamy head and a fine prickle of bubbles that suggest it was lagered long and naturaly carbonated. Interesting aromas of raisins and licorice, peppery and roasted malt flavours and a sweet but roasty dry finish that finally reveals the alcohol.

Nov 15, 2006 Bottled(500ml). -Pours a nice black coloured with medium sized brown head. Nice chocolate licorice nose. Roasted malt and coffee in aroma with pleasant chocolate and cocoa notes. Also very fruity. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Despite 7.0%ABV flavor is quite watery.

Jul 16, 2004 Dark brown color, lasting tan head. Raisin, caramel aromas. Flavor is quite delicate and complex, with dried fruit, licorice, salt, and chocolate. Notable bitteness and a bit of alcohol dry this out a bit in the finish. Very enjoyable, but not spectacular. Surprisingly cheap at less than $2 a bottle.

Dec 15, 2002 Updated: Jul 21, 2007Rerate Still a solid all around porter at a great price - $1.99 for a 500 ml bottle. Dark brown, mocha head, chocolate aroma, some olive oil in the back end. Thick mouthfeel. Original 3.8 Kind of grows on you - hard to describe in words. Licorice-like aroma and appearance. Meant to be drunk slow and savored. Full-bodied flavor lasts throughout - improves upon warming.

Jan 10, 2004 Pretty good Porter! Dark black color moderate brown head. Aroma wasn't terribly aromatic, but what was there was coffeeish, mocha. Body was cream and fairly thick for a Porter. Sweet finish. This baltic style porter wasn't as salty and tart as many I've had(two traits that aren't that appealing to me). I liked it!

Jun 15, 2003 Nice thick, creamy head from the pour. Head lasts for a while also and leaves some nice lacing. Rich aroma with a slight touch of coffee, toffee and caramel. Color is a beautiful dark, red/black. Flavor is VERY smooth but not very complex. Can easily drink this right down. Flavor is a little weaker than expected but has coffee, roasted malts, raisins and is a little sweet. Finish is slightly bitter with a nice alcohol flavor and warming. The best Baltika product I have had so far.
