The appearance is pale gold with a clumpy head. The flavor is no better than the aroma with all the same qualities and an off bitterness. The palate is thin. Wow, I don’t know why anyone would want to import this stuff. I guess it’s an export because they are just trying to get rid of it. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia
| 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Nov 25, 2006 Russia is known for many things, Vodka, beautiful women, murdering ex KGB agents, but beer is not one of them. This does nothing to enhance the reputation. Poor pale colour and fleeting head, corny vegetable soupiness and insipid flavour generally. Nyet. BeerDude78 (87), Denville, New Jersey, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Bottle. Pours pale, pale yellow with a white head. Citrusy hoppy aroma with cereal notes. Cereal flavour, slightly sour. Milky notes appear as it warms. Not much to say here. 26-10-06. highlandlad (1273), Sydney, Australia
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Oct 25, 2006 From Russia With Skunk. This latest Baltika production left me shaken, not stirred. I’d like to say it’s as pale and lovely as Tatiana Romanova but in reality this Russian bear is more like Rosa Klebb. It has the standard lager appearance, some green bottle skunk and aromatic malts and buttery diacetyl. Piercing carbonation, grassy hops, adjuncts and a sour finish. Not dreadful, just another cheap macro lager of no special character, tradition or sense of place. There are one or two gems hidden in Baltika’s long list of numerals but there’s plenty of dross. They can keep this one. (330ml bottle from Dan Murphys, Kingsford. Best before 5/3/07) Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 14, 2006 This was purchased at the Caboose in Ashland. The color was an inviting gold. The beer was a solid drink refreshing. It is not a complex beverage but an average beer. Medium body with no hint of hops and malt. Very clean finish with some grassy tastes but mild. Not a noteworthy beer.
