16.9 ounce bottle - $2.29 at House of Brews in Clarksville, Tennessee. Production Date: 11.10.08. Best Before: 11.10.09. Quick, toss me a bottle opener, there’s not a moment to lose! Appearance: Hastily poured out a cloudy, pale yellow body with a tall, frothy, white head. Smell: Sweetish, slightly tangy nose of malted wheat with notes of lemon, (mild) spice, and a graham crackers gently brushed on one side with honey. Taste: Sweetish malt character largely encompassed by the taste of (lightly) tangy wheat malt. Drizzles of sweet wildflower honey cross my rather surprised tongue. Small touches of lemony citrus and mild spice. Mild hop bitterness. Comrade Baltika has a semi-dry finish that’s crisp and provides a final flavor of graham cracker crumbs. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation for just the right amount of zip. Amply creamy mouthfeel. Drinkability: Surprisingly adequate! Though, for now, I’m just quietly plugging this into Windows Notepad on a computer lacking an internet connection and therefore providing no access to BeerAdvocate whatsoever, I still feel strongly in my opinion that this’ll be the highest rated Baltika product for me... thus far! There’s still a few out there. Now, at long last, there’s a bit of hope added to the steely trepidation I feel for future Baltika products.

Not good. Light wheat flavor dominated by watery bananas. Mild sweetness throughout. Not a hefeweizen. Kind of drinkable. Fizzy and watery. Nearly clear golden color.

Bottle at RFD in Washington, DC. Pours a hazy golden color with a pretty small white head. Aroma is your typical wheat beer - wheat, pale malt, banana, and clove. Flavor is pale malt, wheat, banana, clove, and a little bubble gum. Pretty standard for the style, but good. Palate is fairly light, crisp, and refreshing. Drinkability is high.

Sample in plastic cup at Bevmo, Scottsdale. Golden hazy with head. Astringent lemon gum aroma. Mild honey wheat tang with gummy wheaty mild banana. Not as bad as aroma.

bottle - pours light cloudy amber with a smallish white creamy head. Aroma is of sweet banana, bubblegum, cloves with a light smoky undertone. The sweet banana is carried over to the taste along with the smokiness, but as the beer warms a strange "fishiness" begins to invade the flavor. Creamy mouthfeel, perhaps lacking a bit of sourness.

It’s unclear golden with a creamy, white head. The aroma has notes of clove, wheat and banana. The flavor is sweet with notes of clove, yeast, light rubber, light banana and caramel and he finish is spicy.

Pours a clean crisp yellow with a slight cloudiness. Smells and tastes of lemon and orange peels. Slight hints of caramel in he aftertaste. Overall a refreshing wheat beer that I would drink again.
