The description at the store sounded good, but I apparently had no idea what I was getting when I bought this. It was ok and had some pleasant elements but it neither smelled nor tasted remotely like beer. Pouring a deep golden yellow with bubbles that soon stilled, it had a white head that dissipated quickly but left a thin, sticky, persistent white head that stayed to the end. Its aroma was pungent and distinct, but smelled just sweet, with a faint, vague musky fruitiness like old, sweet grapes and alcohol. The taste was largely the same, tasting primarily just thickly sweet and alcoholic, with the same vague fruitiness & perfuminess of thick, sweet cheap white wine. It left a faint metallic finish. After I ate some chips, it tasted downright nasty - rough, harsh, alcohol and vague perfume. The whole is a rough, thickly sweet, alcoholic taste with a thick, sticky palate. The full palate and taste have some good points, it certainly doesn’t lack flavour, and I will drink this if not eating food with it, but it doesn’t really taste like beer at all. f351c4v (408), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

Corny, grainy aroma, maybe a hint of toast. All malt in the light body, aftertaste of rotten vegetables, alcohol, general decomposition, and a little metallic. It is what it is... cheapdark (2017), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Big brown bottle of Baltika 9. Clean clear aroma. Refreshing carbonation. Initial taste is acrid sweetness, in a good way. Quite an unrefined alky punch. Comes across like many american ice beers or malt liquors. Rather rude and difficult at times. Reminds me of Big City Ice, same offensive attitude. What a lager blast. Finish is processed cheap high alky american lager. Nice sized bottle, tho. This must be russia’s version of america’s cheap malt liquor! Funknmilla (593), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Can. Yellow color with a medium, quickly-diminishing, white head. Grainy, malty aroma, with some alcohol. Flavor is cloying sweetness with lots of alcohol all the way from the beginning to the finish. Thin-bodied. I’m still very close to the 0.5l line of my glass, but a few sips of this stuff were already a bit too much. This is just awful.
