Medium white head that became mostly diminishing, sparse lacing, fine-medium sized bubbles, carbonated, slightly hazy, and a straw yellow hue. Aroma and flavor were malty. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium body. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

Pale yellow, small white head. Malty nose, light alcohol, kind of harsh but not unpleasant. Malty, a bit sweet, medium-bodied with a strong alcoholic touch. Anyhow tasty and clean European strong lager. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA

But this style, what I call a Strong Continental Lager is my guilty pleasure. This was yummy in all the wrong ways!! SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Pale yellow. Big, bubbly, white head. Looks like plenty of carbonation. Macro appearance. Macro taste at first, but smoothes out rather quickly. Malt, alcohol, and lightly sweet corn aroma. Relatively smooth malt liquor and alcohol flavor. Easy drinking, not much to it, but definitely worth the $2/pint bottle price tag. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 31, 2005 History tells us that this beer was brewed for the Czars, and Czar Nicholas I in particular favored this recipe, so it is known by many as an Imperial Malt Liquor. Well, no. But the 8% really does start to hit you a bit. I had a few gulps of this before I started into a spicy guacamole quesadilla, and it was a good compliment to that food, giving a sweet adjunct edge to the grainy smoothness and moderate carbonation. Oh, and it’s yellow, pale yellow. Relatively easy drinking, and hey, it has that exotic Russian thing going for it. You can always try telling your friends about the amazing history of this beer with the Czars....
