Commercial Description:
Banks Beer, the beer of Barbados, is a premium pilsner style lager with a smooth, fresh aroma and a medium alcohol content. Banks is brewed from a pure classic blend of 2-Row British and Australian malted barleys deliciously flavored by Yakima Clusters and the noble Styrian Goldings aroma hops. It is however Barbados' water, naturally filtered through limestone rock, along with our own special strain of yeast, which give Banks Beer its unique Bajan character and distinctive quality. Consistently the #1 choice among beer drinkers in Barbados since it was first produced in 1961.

What is this beer doing in Canada? Don’t they know that it is only good if consumed on the soft sands at the water’s edge in sunny Barbados? Standard pale golden with an average white head. Immediately after the pour I got a whiff of grassy hops, but this faded behind sweet grains. Palate is straightforward grainy, papery malts, but sweeter than I’d prefer. I look forward to trying it again someday, in its home country!

Bottle. Light gold; rapid carbonation. Strong and pleasing skunk-hop aroma. Very refreshing and palate cleansing. Good bitter flavour with predominant hop, straw/grass and a mild sweet finish. Surprisingly good.

12 oz. bottle recieved in trade from Daknole- thanks!!! Served in shaker- poured a transparent thin yellow color, medium carbonation, one finger white head fizzed away a white ring as I sat down, but still tried it’s best to lace. Aroma of wheat, corn, and an ever so slight note of hops. Hits the mouth with a small body, malt appears to be a corn/wheat hybrid, a very light sweetness in the middle, finish is clean but retains just a tiny note of hardness from hops and, possibly, the hard water used. Good companion while playing cards online for a few minutes...

355 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours golden in colour, with minor head. Nothing special here, basic Carib’n lager. meh.

Bottle ( 355ml ). Woo - pale lager from the Carib - someone gave me this, I forget who. Pale bright clear gold, average fizzy quick-diminishing head. Aroma - whoa!! - skunk and grass, jesus that’s nasty. The taste is not too bad - honey, grass, no skunk, maybe a hint of PVC. Light body, decent carbonation, and it finishes quite quickly - the lingering impression is sweet fresh-cut hay, which could be worse - good with food?

I tried this beer on September 5, 2009 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer pours a translucent darker gold colour with almost no head. The aroma is grainy malt and a little hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and medium carbonation. The flavour was very malty with a hint of hops, and an ill-tasting aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours yellow gold with a white head. Light aroma with a strange sweetness. The glavor has a grainy sweetness with some light grassy notes.
