pours brown, off-white head
aroma, roasted, coffee malts, hints of mocha and chocolate.
flavor, smooth and silky palate, plenty of dark malts, coffee roast, chocolate nibs, finishes with a very mild touch of bitterness.
Easy drinker, load of good malty flavors. While the aroma is a bit on the weak side, the flavor makes up for it with a quaff of malt goodness. dogfish120love (286), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

Pours an opaque dark brown colored brew with a thick tan head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of toasted dark malt, chocolate, light coffee and floral hops. Taste is quite smooth, medium bodied, flavors of dark chocolate, toasted dark malt, a hint of whole milk and some burnt bread. Finish is semi-dry with a burnt toast and chocolate aftertaste. smcolw (373), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Mild, but thick, beige head. No light passes through even at the edges. The color is nearly black.
Black patent malt presence with a soured milk aroma.
Here is a dry stout. Tastes very close to the traditional Guiness. Unlike the smell, there is no hint of milk to the beer. Very bitter from the black patent malt (and, perhaps, roasted unmalted barley). Burnt toast flavors. The only detraction is thinner body and high level of carbonation. Great aftertaste of black coffee and burnt sugar (still not sweet). MrChopin (703), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Nose of strong, creamy malt, slight mint, and minor alcohol. Flavor has a ton of malt, light hop balance, some chocolate. Very balanced throughout with a nice, strong, robust malt finish. Very enjoyable stuff.
