-A sheet of foam covers the shiny auburn.
-A fragile blend of ginger, caramel, and light roasting forms a decent aroma.
-Mighty ginger sweetness is spread upon toasted bread crumbs and that mineral house yeast of theirs.
-Prickly bubbles evoke the lack of malt substance.
What if you dig deeper?
-It finishes sweet and spicy, with a bothersome yeasty dryness.
-The overall flavor profile is a one trick pony.
-Some people may find this a fun novelty item, but apart from being a conversation piece or accompanying spicy foods, I don’t see its purpose.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2006 Again this is similar to the peach I tried from the same company, same lighthouse ale base (which is fantastic). The ginger in this is nice and light, not overpowering. Much better than say the ginger offering from Atlantic down the road. Good on a summer day, this mild ale with a hint of ginger will keep you nice and refreshed. porterhouse (1165), Alna, Maine, USA

Aroma of malt, maybe soap? Takes several seconds for flavor to develop but there really isn’t much. Ginger is very subdued. I kept picking up a soapiness. Very fizzy mouthfeel. El-blando. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2005 2005 bottle consumed 9/18/2005. Chestnut-auburn, thick off-white head, tiny bottle conditioned bubbles. Well retained head, with lacing, which is surprising for a ginger beer. Man, Bar Harbor beers sure do look fantastic, without exception. Smells of ginger, dry grains, hint of biscuits, brown bread. Spicy, but not over-spiced. Flavor is well-attenuated, like the peach (but not quite as much). Cola, ginger, some light honey on the end. Dry, only a bit of maltiness. Quite refreshing with a nice, low carbonated mouthfeel. A bit of sawdust and black pepper. No yeastiness. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Medium ruddy brown color. Poured without any head, even when coaxed. Ginger and spicey malt aroma. Merely OK to drink, just slightly better than a flat rootbeer but less syrupy. It’s a fun experience however and would be a great novelty beer to take on a picnic or outing.
