Commercial Description:
Also chosen as one of the top 10 beers in America for 1999. Inspired by the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, this beer delivers lots of flavor for a light-bodied ale. Rich, roasted malt flavors are subtly accented with aromatic hops, producing a well-balanced English Mild Ale that is not bitter.
Terrific with Maine lobster & seafood.

Sample at the brewery. Honestly only the second mild ale I have tasted but this seemed to have more more (and better) flavour to my previous experience. Very easy drinking and probably an easy seesion fit.

(Bottle). Aroma is malty nuts and semi-sweet fruits. Reddish copper, light brown head. Flavor is characterized by nuts and some malt toastiness. Mild, a little watery, but overall pleasant.

A dark amber ale witha thin off white head. Sweetish caramel malt wiht light notes of sulfur, and mineral salts. In mouth, a lightly nutty malt and mineral water, light bodied. Gift from Inertiaboy, August 25 2008.

Too light for my tastes, but many around me at the taste test liked it. Lightweights they were.

bottle 08’ @ brewery. Malts tasted flat, grungy, and underdone. hops are stylistically appropriate. watery body and overall underwhelming.

Bottle, courtesy of wickedpete, I believe. Clear dark bronze with a white ring around the glass. Light toastiness, earthy hops and a little woodiness in the nose. Starts with caramel, then earthy hops/light fruitiness - then, the flavor sort of fades into watery tastelessness. Ends with a tinge of toffee. Very light-bodied with moderate carbonation. Not bad, just a drinkin’ "table beer".

Got the bottle while in Bar Harbor from the Brewer’s new store in the town. Thanks Andre! You need a lighthouse because this beer is really dark, almost port color. Nice medium head that holds together pretty well nice lacing and a faint malt odor. Earthu but a little too much carbonation. lemon bitter finish and not too sweet even at the start.
