Commercial Description:
Also chosen as one of the top 10 beers in America for 1999. Inspired by the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, this beer delivers lots of flavor for a light-bodied ale. Rich, roasted malt flavors are subtly accented with aromatic hops, producing a well-balanced English Mild Ale that is not bitter.
Terrific with Maine lobster & seafood.

Brown color, noticeably low carbonation. Sweet brown sugar aroma. Flavor is nutty, watery, a bit of butterscotch. Thin on the palate.

22oz bottle shared by wickedpete. Hazy amber color. Sweaty, moldy cereal grain malt and old banana skin hop flavors, some bakers yeast and some moldy bran bready flavors as well. A simple beer overall, with a couple of defects but it’s not terrible.

(22oz bottle, thanks wickedpete) Clear amber body atop medium beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, strawberry, some peach. Taste is medium sweet, strawberry, caramel/butterscotch. Light-medium body, light syrup, undercarbonated.

22oz bottle, courtesy of wickedpete. Thanks, Pete! Pours a murky, yellowish-brown color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Apples, toffee, and citrus in the aroma; a bit scattered and light. Medium mouthfeel: a huge emphasis on toffee and caramel candy, but a bit watery at the edges and stale; mild, with plenty of wet malts. Medium toffee and caramel finish, with some mineral bitterness.

Provided by wickedpete. Hazy, amber body with a tiny off-white head. Rich, sweet caramel nose with toffee and golden raisins. The flavor is pretty watery with light grainy malt, some caramel and copper. Light body is thin with light carbonation.

Poured a copperbody with a medium sized whitish head. Nose of slightly sweet malts and hops. English pale ale stylisticly. Very mundane and uninteresting. I had hoped for more. Bottle I brought back from Bar Harbor, Maine didn’t travel or age well.

Great - Bought some at the brewery and made the effort to to carry some home on the plane. I hate carrying stuff on the plane so that means it tasted pretty good to me.

Quite bland really. The aroma is nice yet mild, but the flavor is nearly indiscernable, goes down like water. Combine that with virtually no head and an unmemorable finish and you have a pretty forgettable beer.
