Pours a dark mahogany brown, with a wisp of frothy head around the rim. Smell is very heavy on roasted barley. Taste is more the same. This is a good, basic, all around brown. Easy drinking and smooth. Very sessionable, but not impressionable.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear mahogany brown body under a small fizzy light beige head. Lots of visible carbonation. The nose is quite nutty and grainy with some cola like notes. Very light hoppiness. The flavor is a little thin with a very grainy husky maltiness. The finish is pretty short with minimal bitterness and some light cola and weak-brewed coffee notes. Mouthfeel is quite light bodied and watery in texture with way too much fizzy foaming carbonation. Overall, just too thin and grainy with an annoying carbonation level.

Awesome - way better than the lighthouse ale, and the lighthouse ale is great.

Bomber @ Thurston’s Lobster Pound on Mount Desert Maine, shared with my dad. Pours light amber up to the light, mixed with a muddy brown. With a 2 finger foamy creamy head. Big nose I noticed on the pour, sweet malty nice. Taste is nice with a big chocolate malt kick, sweet after taste and an empty back end. Smooth palate, damn tasty choco brown.

Interesting dark amber and quite translucent color for a brown ale. The aroma is rather disappointing with some slightly metallic notes with grassy hops. Much more reminiscent of an amber ale than a brown. Flavor is mild, somewhat sweet and nutty. Hop finish is try and refreshing.

A very tasty medium bodied ale that poured to a medium brown color with decent carbonation and an off-white head that left okay lacing. The nose was a very pleasant roasted nutty malt, and the flavor followed suit. Although only 5% in alcohol, this left a sweet, tasty, somewhat warming finish.

Dark brown with slight head. Nutty aromas, burnt chocolate, caramel, light vanilla scents as well. Nutty flavors persist, but are met by a balancing hops brigade, which evens out the brew nicely. There are sour fruit notes developing towards the finish and they dominate over the roasted mocha and coffee flavors.
