Bar Harbor True Blue Blueberry Ale

We sniffed and sniffed, agitated the brew and sniffed again, tasted and just about gargled this brew and yet we could find hardly a trace of blueberry in this beer. Dark red/brown body, short head, little lacing. Taste was malty, and if there had been fruit, I would say it had some muffin to it. Fairly disappointing. (point off for the lack of blueberry - I mean c’mon!)

Guest tap at Barleys in Ohio. Smells faintly of blueberries. Flavor is all I don’t like in fruit beers. Justi thin and stringy and a fruit that I have only enjoyed once in a beer.

I had pretty low expectations on this one, didn’t think blueberry beer sounded good. Poured amber, minimal head. Aroma was like the blueberry syrup you put on your pancakes. Some malt, light blueberry flavor that surprised me by blending well with the hops that were present. Didn’t have the overpowering fruit flavoring that is sometimes present in fruit beers. Pretty average. You could do worse if you’re looking for a fruit beer.

Wow, i have no idea what everyone is talking about, i do not taste a drop of blueberry in this beer, and if it didnt say it on the bottle i doubt anyone would recognize it either. Nothing interesting about this brew at all. though i did get a faint whiff of blueberry muffins upon opening the beer, but that was about it. The color is a very very ugly and unappealing amber brown, virtually no head. Just a very blah beer. Not sure how this can even have Blueberry in the name, misleading.

One of the better blueberry ales i have had. Very enjoyable. Refreshing with a stong hint of blueberry. darker color then i expected. I like this beer.

July 4th, 2004. On draft in Bar Harbor, Maine Strong floral and blueberry aroma. The apearance is pale with a wee bit of amber haziness to it. A minimal head, with a heavy cloying sweetness and light body. The palate had a thin feel, lively blueberry and carbonation finish. Too sweet to down more than one.

Light copper in color with a small off-white head. Aroma of blueberry and slight malt sweetness. Solid fruit beer, better than most just nothing exceptional in my opinion.

Blueberry Veruca Salt aroma. Tea colored body with red tones. Almond coloured head. Lace. Stale blueberry flavor with a bitter finish.
