gary07734 (99), Tyne & Wear, England Jul 17, 2008 0.33l bottle from Belgium. Pour nice orange/brown colour with a good creamy head. Smell is distinct honey and some alcohol, taste is much the same with sweetness from the honey all the way through until the medium alcohol finish. Honey beers are an odd concept but this is a nicely balanced, natural tasting one, very enjoyable. Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle. Great on a hot day. Pours a sticky hazy amber orange beer with a white head. Aroma/flavor is orange honey, malt, some spices candi sugar and some earthy hop character. Allen (489), Wölflinswil, Switzerland Jul 6, 2008 It pours a slightly hazy amber beer with a nicely remaining head. The nose is of honey, orange peel, candy, coconut, tobacco, ginger and coriander accompanied by soy sauce. Sweet taste with honey dominating. More coriander showing up in the flavor than in the nose. Notes of orange peel, candy and ginger. Highly drinkable. Beautiful lacing. Some coconut, cinnamon and tobacco sneaking in. Smooth mouthfeel. Nicely balanced. Sweet spicy, slightly peppery finish with a grassy component. A great beer. weaselkenievil (282), Cheshire, England Jul 5, 2008 Not my favourite Belgian by a long way but beer and honey is not a good mix for me. This is certainly one of the better ones I’ve had though. Obvious honey but has a nice tone of a posh dessert to it. Smells like a slappers tuppence. CapedBrewsader (180), Brasschaat, Belgium Jul 3, 2008 33cl. bottle at home: Brilliant crisp dark gold with an off-white creamy thin head with staying power. Very lively looking carbonation. Smells nicely grainy and malty with slight toast and honey drizzled on top. Somewhat sweet. Something almost creamy about it on the nose. Like a big bowl of french vanilla ice-cream. Also a spicy grain note. I remember being disappointed with this beer last time I tried it a couple years ago... but now I am a little surprised. Nice play between toasted malts and a floral/herbal vein. Definitely a bit sweet under this toasted layer. A bit of light caramel and raw cane sugar. Herbs start to get a bit astringent halfway through. Then comes in vanilla again with some oatmeal cookie dough and raw wheat. Long herbal and sugary finish with a bit of toast fading in and out. CO2 is high but it works here.
