A little like a cadburys fruit and nut without the chocolate. Not a bad beer but had better too much for this to be high on my list. blipp (1768), Newark, New Jersey, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours clear brown-ish amber with big bubbled tan head. The aroma is musty dark fruitiness of plums, raisins and hard candy cherries as well as sugar sweetness. The taste is much the same creating a mirror image of the nose (huh?) with prunes, dates, figs, sweet ripe plums, raisins and some rip cherries to go along with faint dark roasted malts. ansermadide (535), Kyle, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2008 I found this in the back of my fridge and don’t know where it came from. Old age. But I do know where it went to. It pours a very dark mahogany body highlighted in ruby with a tall, foamy, and sustained eggshell head. It has an aroma of dark dried fruit, flowers, roasted malts, and a touch of licorice. Very sweet dark malts but not cloying because of the floral bitterness, brown spices, and sharp jab of alcohol that balance it out. The finish has a coffee dryness to it. Very nice. And the 8% ABV (not a doppelbock?) make it a good evening warmer.
