Musky accentuations in the aroma, reminiscent of Cabbage Patch Kids sitting too long in a skunky cabbage patch. Other aromatic contributors consist of baguette crust, tree bark, honey and maple, spicy hops and hazelnuts. Flavor is one of the better demons to come out of this brewery. Bready sourdough and an encapsulating effervescent quality. Some corn husks and flakey honey bunches of oats. An acidic bite is also apparent. Medium-bodied and refreshingly tolerable, finishing with musky pils malt and chalky bitterness. The first impression on this one is far better than how it faired in the end, but it still could have been a lot worse. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 9, 2006 Sweet grainy aroma, copper color with thin head, drank this at room temp and the flavor was too sweet and a little strange...malt, corn, with a cloying, processed taste and a metallic finish that almost tastes like hops, but not quite. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Clear amber body with a moderate sized head. Aroma is thin but caramel malts with some bread. Flavor is the same, but way too thin to be interesting. beerbill (1963), Laurel, New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 3, 2006 12 oz. bottle from sampler pack at BJ’s Wholesale Club. I liked this one the least of the group. Exactly what is "gold rush style" beer? Beer starts off promising with a pleasant aroma of hops and caramel malt. Pours a rich copper color with a two-finger off white head. From there, this beer goes downhill quickly. Grassy, sour flavor. Mouthfeel is cloying and unpleasant. This beer starts with promise but ends in disappointment. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA

Reddish amber pour with an off-white head that disappeared in about 5 seconds. Malty aroma with caramel and wheat standing out. Caramel and sour apple in flavor. Medium body. sammy3D (114), Lawrenceville, Georgia, USA
