Dull amber without much head. The aroma is caramel, abundant fields of grain and a light fruitiness. Palate is strange - like pear juice, with some caramel. There’s a weirdness I can’t put my finger on. The body is somewhat watery, and maybe a bit thin, but it’s also doughy. Very strange. The finish is sweet, again with a somewhat innocuous pear juice note. When I first had this sample pack, 9 1/2 years ago, I kind of like this beer. Now, I really don’t. The sweetness is mild and body sufficiently soft that it should be at least pleasant if not pleasing. But it isn’t. Maybe it’s too cloying. Maybe it’s a bit strange, like dirty yeast or ancient brewing equipment strange. That might be it. This beer smacks of old Communist-era brewing equipment. Hmm.

Bottle from gift back. Aroma reminds me slightly of the stock ale, however has some sweetish pale malts and soft gren hop character. Taste is similar on the sweet side of balanced but relitivly unoffensive and easy drinkin.

Bottle... Clear orange lager with golden highlights and a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Decent retention. The reserved aroma is of toffee with some pleasant toasted notes. Also, a note of something I can’t identify... a fruit? fermentation? All beer is fermented, but it isn’t supposed to literally smell like the fermentation process, is it?. Not unpleasant, but certainly odd. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Perfectly balanced, but fairly bland. Sweet toffee equaled by bitter, minerally hops. Crisp, bittersweet finish. It’s not offensive, it’s just not... much. Bottle provided by scubarex!

(Bottle) Pours a copper color with a medium-sized white frothy head. Not an appealing tasting beer. Reminds me of several B/M/C products...

Pours brown with a thin light brown head. Smells of vegetables and very metallic with some caramel and nuttiness underneath. Tastes of caramel (thankfully the vegetal hints aren’t there on the flavor), some earthy hints. Finish is overly sweet.

12oz bottle. Wet, sticky corn nose, heavily sharp but aromatic and a nice pungency to the hops. Flavor is wet up front then crisp across the middle, with a clean, mild corn and toasted malt profile and a light bite of snappy, dry hops. Unoffensive but not anything good. Had this from some beers of america sam’s club pack.

My bottle was a single buy, and not part of the "Historical Beers of America" that the other raters are simply raving about. I actually found this to be a decent drink. Pouring a deep gold body with a minimalist’s head, it has a buttered toast aroma. That’s maintained in the flavor, along with some corn (C’mon - It is Huber, after all) and a very modest amount of herbal bitterness. Good lawnmower beer.

Bright clear amber color with a thin weak off white head. Stale bread and caramel aromas. Tinny fruit and light toffee flavors. Dry finish. not much to this one.
