The taste is like a muted version of Guinness, as mentioned by other raters. I got some coffee, toffee and burnt caramel notes in there. Light body. Rather high carbonation, but still a dry finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2009 This reminded me of a lesser version of Guinness. Body was a bit thin, had a slight roast/chocolate/coffee taste. Average brew. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 31, 2009 Poured from the tap into a pint glass.
The color is dark brown to acomplete black with a foamy white head.
The smell is not very strong. Some hop flavor with some roasted malt feel.
The taste is creamy, some roasted malt flavor that also gives the beer a tiny bit of a coffee flavor. Also has abit of a chocolate feel to it as well.
AB attempt at a stout and it was not bad. Not unlike a Guinness.

| 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Aug 19, 2009 Sampled at Binnys South Loop. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is of absolutely nothing. I got nothing out of it. Taste starts off with absolutely nothing, and ends with the slightest bit off coffee. The body is very thin and the mouthfeel is watery. This is one of the most insanely bland beers I can recall. Tastes like an aborted homebrew attempt. Leighton (270), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2009 To sum this one up, I’d call it something like Guinness Lite. Bare Knuckle has very similar attributes that make it akin to Guinness, such as a huge, frothy head, rich, dark color, burnt grain aroma and a taste of chocolate and coffee. The only difference is that I find all the attributes of Guinness simply more robust than this stout. It’s good and a little "easier" than Guinness.
