| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 14, 2005 Pours dark brown with creamy head. Nitro. Aroma faint but what there is has a roasty scent. Flavor smooth with a roasted finish. not much of an aftertaste. A little watery. A poor guiness knock-off.
Is A-B afraid of hops, or what???? jb (1044), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2005 Draft, looked great - thick tan head and head infused in top half of beer. Beer was very dark. Cinammon was all I detected. Palate was a little watery then there was some toasted notes and bittering hops in the finish. Not bad , looking to make a Guinness knock-off I guess. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 3, 2005 Sample at Boston’s Bistro in Dayton. I guess if I were a beer drinker who thought Guinness was too "out there" I might feel safer trying this. Pours black with a thick but short-lived beige head. Aroma of toasted malt. Thin-bodied by the Dry Stout measure with malt and espresso flavors. The finish is dry and short with a roasty aftertaste. It’s not saying much (or maybe it is) but this is an OK A-B brew. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2005 This could be the best product AB will ever produce. Head is so nice... great creamy texture that really compliments flavor. Dark dark brown body with aromas of burnt chocolate. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for a stout and the aftertaste doesn’t fully blossom like a top-notch stout will, but it really does a nice job at what it does. Kinz (2207), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 11, 2005 Finally ran across this at the River City Beer & Seafood Festival, figured I might as well try it. Light milk chocolate aroma, black with an OK head. Slight bitter taste, but also quite thin in the mouth, followed by all the faint roasted notes disappearing all at once, with no aftertaste. Pathetic.
