| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 31, 2005 This was better than expected but expectations werent very high. It had decent thick tan head and had roasted malt, nutty, creamy flavors to it. It was thin as water, and didnt have any texture to speak of. boring for a stout. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2005 Tap. Deep black hue with an off-white, creamy head. Roasty/smokey/nutty. Flat nitro non-aroma. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter finish. Medium-light body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: dead, lifeless. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2005 Updated: Oct 26, 2006Whatever...it’s good beer and the only reason it is rated at a 26 is cause it is an AB beer. It is BETTER than any Guinness I have ever had. More flavor, better balance and incredible drinkability. This is a GREAT example of a dry stout that if released by Stone, 3 Floyds, Magic Hat or Ale Smith would be in the 85+ percentile. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 7, 2005 Pours dark brown/black with creamy tan nitro head. Aromas of dark roasted malt. Flavors of the same with maybe a slight hint of coffee. Not a great stout, but hey compared to the other beers from this brewer it is pretty impressive. Definitely could do worse. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 4, 2005 Updated: Aug 28, 2005To say it pours similar to Guiness is an insult, because it will settle in a matter of moments, while Guiness takes a full 2-3 mins.
The color is indeed as balck as any stout you will find anywhere.
I felt maybe there was some coffee and bitter taste to it, but lacking the chocolate or sweet that I enjoy to contrast in a stout. Norton (296), The Fan, Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Draft. Welcome to mediocrity! Found this on tap at an Irish Pub here in town & thought, "Why haven’t I heard of this brew before?" Only after coming to this website to rate did I realize it was an Anheuser-Busch product - that explains a lot. Nearly opaque black. Phony, creamy tan head sticks around for duration. Almost no detectable aroma whatsoever. Watery mouthfeel. No hops presence. All this brew does is give me an unpleasant bitter aftertaste on the back of my tongue. Uninspired. Generic. Why bother? | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 19, 2005 Draft at Sea World (San Diego) - Pours very similar to Guiness... creamy tan head with nitrogen buddle cascade beneath. Thin body. Aroma not strong, but slightly of roasted malts. Flavor is not strong either, but some expresso and roasted malt. An OK beer, but still too apparent as a mega, rather than a craft beer. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 18, 2005 ok then..yes, as i said about the budweiser select, i took the tour..obligation, you see? pretty damn thin, but starts off initially quite dry, but finishes more as i would have suspected...sweeter. light bodied, but the contrived roastiness wasn’t THAT bad.
