dpjuart (530), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2008 Cask. Black with red hues. Head is rimming and small, white. Nose is roast, oak and lots of bourbon. Tastes of bourbon with a bit of stout. Thin and alcoholic. Seems that the regular stout didn’t hold up to the barrel aging. Maybe just a bit too small of a beer for such a task. Tasty, though, just not stellar. themadmumis (343), Westminster, Maryland, USA Aug 22, 2006 First cask beer I’ve tried. Evident aroma of Jim Beam from the Schifferstadt Stout base. Alcohol appears to bite more than it actually does. Not a big fan of the liquor mix in the beer, however, I’m glad I tried it. Served at about 55 degrees fahrenheit in warm glass. hopscotch (4399), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jan 12, 2006 Cask... Black ale with a small, whispy, tan head. The aroma and flavor are both pretty thin and nondescript with mild notes of cocoa and bourbon. Light to medium-bodied and mostly watery with pillow-soft carbonation. Finishes lightly sweet, then dry. Disappointing.
