Ungstrup (10943), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 27, 2006 Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. A light yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is very light with faint notes of malt. The flavor has a weird citrusy note to it combined with light malty notes - reminds me of a light beer. The end is dry and bitter and comes very late. Derek881 (311), Frederick, Maryland, USA Dec 12, 2006 Enjoyed on tap at the brewery with dinner. The beer had a traditional gold-yellow color with a good white head. Featured light-medium carbonation and body with a thin-average texture. The flavor was mostly sweet but had a slight sour taste too. The aroma was sweet floral malts. chris_o (4398), London, Greater London, England Nov 5, 2006 On tap at the brewpub, July 2006. I was a bit taken aback by how many US brewpubs make a Kolsch, but I thought many of them were just very light quaffing ales that had little in common with the genuine article. This one was closer to the mark than most. Very pale, straw colour. Gentle fizz - not too carbonated. Featherweight mouthfeel. A touch sweet. The merest hint of biscuity malt. Not a lot to it, but clean and fresh, which is really all you’re looking for in this type of beer.
themadmumis (343), Westminster, Maryland, USA Aug 26, 2006 Once again, features many malts. More character than the macros. Well rounded with generous malt tastes, light body. Great example of a Kolsch. hopscotch (4399), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Feb 5, 2003 The aroma is lightly malty (soapy) and lightly hoppy (a bit spicy in the nose).
This sparkling clear, straw-colored ale has a small, very creamy head with extremely thick and intricate lacework. The head is almost fully lasting.
The flavor is very thin and disappointing. Well-balanced, but so is water. Neither malty nor hoppy. A hint of skunk... downwind by 100 yards, but there nonetheless. Maybe served too cold! Just lightly pungent on the backside.
Short, crisp and dry finish. Pretty good lawnmower beer.
