skoisirius (481), Seattle, Washington, USA May 21, 2008 Honestly surprised to see so many lower ratings on this beauty. The rich blend of flavors is truly a treat for the palate inside the creative opaque blue bottle. Lots of spice, thick sweet plummy malts, and all the while a wine like sensation is complimenting everything that is the brew. Creamy and thick body. Almost hard to pick out the barleywine at points. Well done gentleman.
MartinT (4447), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 26, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Deep raisins melt into caramel building a portly mouthfeel for this alcohol-licked Barley Wine-like creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the burgundy-laced brown.
-That sweet grape fruitiness is long and luscious.
-Carbonation is rather low, which lets the fruit and malt flavors expand on the tongue.
-Roastiness is also found within, while the caramel takes on a molasses-like personality at times.
-The flavor profile is not exactly übercomplex, but it’s straighforward, lush and lots of fun.
Bottle. cgarvieuk (2598), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 15, 2008 Bottle at home from my 60 bottle GBBF haul ... Deep brown ... sweet vine fruits anf a toffee hint in the nose ... quite a big chocolate and cherry frutiyness ... tiny hint of sour ... medium carbonation but mouthfeeel isnt quite right ... scraff (1702), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Oct 12, 2008 Tasting – Perfect Pour. Dark chocolate brown, creamy tan head. Rich roasted cocoa fig aromas warm to swirls of cherry caramel and hints of strawberry. Dried dark fruit and soft chocolate flavors balance on touches of red grape throughout. Sweet with just a touch of bitterness to round it out. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Rich, complex, and very well made… Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 8, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy orangey brown with a light brown head. Aroma of burned malt, also some ashes and dark chocolate. Medium body with sweetish lightly burned malt, fruit and vanilla with a lightly bitter finish. Appears more like a sweet Stout really. 290508 diabel (1210), Aarschot, Belgium Sep 25, 2008 Bottled at Bruxellensis 2008, Brussels, Belgium
Shunky, deep brown to black head. Aroma of intense malts (both roasted and caramel) and wood. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Very complex, well bbalanced and not too alcoholic flavour. Great!
