RomanW70 (284), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 17, 2008 Great thanks to Emanuele and the staff at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà and Bir & Fud for sharing this with me on my last night in Europe. Pours medium brown with a minimal head. Aroma of chocolate, caramle, and dark fruits, Flavor is similar, bull of dark malts. Has some roast bitterness in the finish. Very nice beer.
willblake (1952), Long Branch, New Jersey, USA Nov 30, 2008 20080202 750ml bottle, Spirits RB Hazed cola brown with lasting tan head. Aroma is earthy with dark fruits, toasted dark bread. Flavor is a revelation for this brewer, by far the finest of their offerings I’ve tried. Chocolate and dried dark fruit, light astringency, peat roast. Mildly dusty. None of the vinous character I was hoping for. Beershine (1515), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2008 Bottle, Brewtopia. Opaque dark brown with tan head and looks creamy. Rich chocolate and carob. Creamy mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate and distinct flavor of quality carob in here and very creamy. I liked it. daknole (1122), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2008 Tasting at Brewtopia. Glad Oakes wrote this down, I couldnt read my damn writing to figure out which beer this was!!! cloudy brown pour, with a decent brown head. Very malty and fruity on the nose with some notes of booziness. Flavor is fruity and malty as hell with maybe a tad too much sweetness...but it s very very good overall. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2008 Hazy dark brown. Chocolatey, with dark fruit and hints of tartness. Tart, some deep fruit and minerally single estate chocolate flavours. But overall, I’m not sure the package comes together. marcus (1116), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle from bhensonb. This dark brown ale poured with a nice tan head and a nose of pungent malt and alcohol. The flavor is about as strange as you think a grape stout would be but, nevertheless, very tasty and satisfying. There is a lot of chocolate mixed with fruit overlaying a heavy roasted malt base. Thanks Bill.
