Pours thick and has a brownish amber coloring, not quite porter like in color, more of like a dark brown ale. Citrus hops challenge everything else for dominance in the nose, light hints of resiny bitter on the palate, and a caramel/toffee sweetness in the malt. Different, but I am not sure if I like this one or not, would definitely have to try it again. jcwattsrugger (5563), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 7, 2007 Courtesy jayg. Very dark brown/black with brown edges and a small, tan head. Flavor and aroma dominated by hops- citrus, resin, pine spicy florals. Malt support is mildly sweet and toasty with some subtle cocoa. A bit of chocolate malt? Medium body, balanced carbonation, easy to drink. Excellent change of pace for an IPA. bu11zeye (5608), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Dark chestnut color with a thin off-white head. Nice crisp grapefruit color with a hint of mild roasty malts. Nice hop crispness to start the taste, some biscuity malt in the middle, and the finish is hops again, a nice citric tingle. The dark grains add an interesting nuance to the brew, adding just enough of a toastiness behind the relatively aggressive hops to leave you thinking about what’s different. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

Nice hop aroma with roasted notes of coffee and even a little ash. Nice hoppy finish. The beer was decent. Almost like a IDarkA. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA
