argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA Oct 9, 2007 (draft) Clear dark brown body with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, roast, some coffee, light dishwater. Taste is medium sweet, coffee/roast, faint cherry sourness. Creamy light-medium body with low carbonation. CaptainCougar (4664), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 31, 2006 Bottle from kramer17801: Pours a transparent dark mahogany brown with a thin ring of off-white head. Lightly roasted, milk chocolate and sour aroma is an interesting mix, but leads me to think it’s an infection. Body starts thin, with a hint of sweet chocolate before succumbing to acidity and tartness. This would probably be a pretty decent schwarzbier, but in this industry, sanitation is everything. hopdog (4654), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 10, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured a medium mahogany color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of toasted nuts, light chocolate, and I was getting some corn. Tastes of toasted nuts and even lighter chocolate. hopscotch (4594), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Nov 23, 2003 Sparkling clear, deep amber lager with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Decent lacework.
The nose is roasty with some milk chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla notes.
Well-balanced flavor with small notes of milk chocolate and caramel.
Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, astringent, pungent finish.
DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 30, 2004 Rated: 750 ml bottle that was stored for 13 months...also on tap in Tannersville. This beer pours a nice deep black color with a medium head. The taset is very malty, with hints of wheat bread, molasses, and chocolate malts. It is somewhat light in viscosity, and very smooth. The finish is slightly sweet and leaves you wanting another. One of my favorite schwarzbiers.
