patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 1, 2009 bottle - Pours very dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is heavy on the bourbon with some roast malt underlying it. The flavor is also heavy on the bourbon. There’s roast malt and some chocolate notes under there too, but I thought the body was too light for all that bourbon. In that sense it has the same flaw as the beastie barrel stout. It’s alright but could be better. guyinchicago (516), marengo, Illinois, USA Oct 31, 2009 Poured a dark brown with a massive tan head very carbonated with bubbles cling to sides thur out session aromas of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, bourbon and hops taste of the same a very well balenced brew my first from this brewer who I wasn’t expecting much from but they floored me msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Oct 28, 2009 12oz bottle from Orland Park Binny’s single rack. Pours very dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate and sweet caramel. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, oak, vanilla and finishes with a little caramel sweetness. Barrel brings a nice complexity to the table. Not sign of booze really. Pretty balanced and nicely done BA porter. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Oct 25, 2009 Extra Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head. Vanilla and bourbon woody notes with some lighter chocolate undertones and a light roast y finish. Nice brew. tmoreau (527), Lombard, Illinois, USA Oct 1, 2009 12 oz. bottle at Lunar Brewing Co.. Poured a dark brown with some ruby tones showing through, a foamy, tan head and very good curtains and spots of clingy lacing. The aroma was mainly a pleasant, soft vanilla and nuttiness combo, with a hint of bourbon. The flavor was roasty, vanilla, bourbon, and just enough supportive hop bitterness. Good body and creamy on the tongue. A very respectable Porter. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 20, 2009 Bottle at Yourdarklord’s house. Pours brown with a lt brown head. Vanilla and nutty malt aroma. Light to medium bodied with a creamy mountfeel. Flavor is like the aroma- vanilla, nutty malts, and some mild roasted malts. Bourbon finish. danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 13, 2009 BPW #7
12 oz bottle at Shallos in Indy. Appearance is a mildly lighter brown with no real head. Flavors and nose are vanilla, bourbon and roasted malts and some slight smoke. At first the bourbon is really nice but as the beer goes the bourbon begins to taste of a lower quality spirits. Mouth is slightly carbonated but a bit hot.
