Jun 24, 2009 12 oz bottle from Archer Liquors. Dark brown oily pour with messy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla a bit of oak and alcohol. Flavors are similar but on the watery side, kinda bland, mouthfeel is oily. Not that impressed by this or the other barley Island availiable in my area.

Jun 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Darkest brown pour with a huge tan head. Nose of whiskey and roasted malt. Flavor is malt and roasty coffee with a bit of whiskey and oak in the finish. They didn’t overdo it on the booze.

Jun 10, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium foamy brown head. Aroma is of toasted malt, oak, vanilla, dark fruit, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is of toasted malt, dark fruit, and vanilla. Has a small presence of bourbon and oak. Has a very faint hop character to it. Mouthfeel is sticky but very watery. What a dissapointment this beer is. I couldn’t detect any bourbon and very little oak in the flavor. In fact, it’s hard to pull much flavor out at all. A very bland experience. The aroma was very promising, but the taste didn’t deliver much at all.

May 1, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Bittersweet chocolate flavor with hints of vanilla, bourbon. Bitter chocolate finish. Very drinkable. Would probably go great over some vanilla ice cream!

May 1, 2009 12 oz bottle. Cola brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and a subtle hint of bourbon. Roasted malt, chocolate,and slight bourbon. Some sweetness at the end. Laces well.

Apr 27, 2009 Draft at brewpub. Dark brown color with an off white head. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, vanilla oak and a slight trace of bourbon. Dark chocolate and smokey flavor with some vanilla cream also present. I could hardly detect any bourbon in the taste. Enjoyable porter I would definitely order again.
