The nose is roasted barley malt and chocolate. Somewhat thin in texture, surprisingly in light of the thick viscour pour. The flavors are roasted grain, chocolate, vanilla, but no wood, no bourbon, no barrel qualities to speak of. OK. BigBang (213), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Pours black with medium brown head. Nose of bourbon and chocolate. Mouthfeel is too thin for my liking. Flavor is similar to nose but if there is more complexity, it does not linger enough to determine (see mouthfeel comment). OK. drfabulous (1266), Columbia, Missouri, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 18, 2008 The aroma is very much what I like in a stout. Its got chocolate, toasted malt, coffee, and just the right amount of sweetness. The appearance is dark brown with a nice tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but not as thick as I would like. The beer is overall very good. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2008 I picked this up at Wise Guys in Merrillville, IN. It poured a black body with a tall, creamy brown head and provided much lacework. It smelled of dark caramel, roasted malts, burnt brown sugar, vanilla, and a bit of Bourbon. Very soft, creamy mouthfeel. There is a light touch of milk chocolate added to the flavor. It has a darkly sweet finish. Nice. Earlier Rating: 11/10/2004 Total Score: 3.5 FOBAB 2004: Pours a deep black body with a brown head. The aroma’s a pleasant blending of roasted malts and bourbon. The taste, coffe and chocolate and toffee and bourbon, of course. Fairly dry finish with coffee being the lingering aftertaste.
