cask tulip - Aroma is soft bubblegum, spice, subtle oak, vanilla and yeasty bread. Pours black with a small creamy off-white head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a stronger oak and vanilla finish. Palate is dry, sticky but finishes smooth. The barrel aging does not overpower the base beer. A nice improvement on a good brew.
side-by-side with non-cask version - The extra carbonation brings out a bit more of the oakiness but loses the smooth finish.
