Flavour is strong alcohol drowning into a nice raisin complex palate. At first this beer really puts you off from the alcohol but the raisin flavours become really enjoyable. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2007 Bottled from a growler... O-Town Throwdown... Crystal clear, ruby ale with burnt orange highlights. No head. Complex, wonderful aroma with notes of vanilla, bourbon, brown sugar, wood, light raisins and alchohol. The alcohol shines through in this version, "but I am not afraid." A huge beer with tons of malty sweetness. A touch acidic with plenty of bourbon, vanilla and alcohol. Ultra full-bodied with a mouthfeel of thick cooking oil and mega-soft carbonation. Lengthy, sweet finish. Thanks to robertsreality for providing the goods! Aroma of sweet, rich brown sugar and caramel with some complex raisins and plums along with a nice bourbon oaky balance. Body starts rich, sugary and sweet with plenty of complex dark fruits and light bourbon and brandy flavors toward a viscous caramel candy finish. A very complex, enjoyable dessert beer. RBSG Minneapolis pub crawl, June 22 2007. Dark maroon, not quite opaque, a bit of head that dies to a lasting ring....loads of thick caramel in the aroma, a hint of smoked fruitwood, vanilla, and lightly toasty almonds, captivating....hugely juicy and fruity with smoky/burnt qualities providing a nice contrast, chocolate-caramel-nougat richness throughtout, raisiny and port-touched, totally decadent but to me not really overdone and significantly less boozy and mellower than Batch 1....I like my barleywines candyish as longs as there’s at least a bit of balancing bitterness or pungency, and this one fits the bill. Along with the Plank Dunkel Weizenbock at the Grand Tasting the next night this was tops of the gathering for me.
