Commercial Description:
What is an Enkle you ask? Enkle means Single in Flemmish, as in Single, Dubbel and Tripel. This is a style that does not see commercial success and in fact there is very little written on it, so naturally we were intrigued. This is our attempt at a Monk's table beer, a beer that is golden, lightly hopped, pulled together by the wonderful Belgian spiciness from the yeast, and can be enjoyed without the consequences of a Tripel.

(Cask) Pours a hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of florals, citrus, clove, apple, pepper, and other spices. Flavor of yeast, light citric hops, and herbs with a mildly bitter finish.

Growler ala SoG. Dark golden color with a small lid of off-white bubbles. Pale malt aromas with a touch of floral hops. Pure pale malt flavors with a light rose and hint of white grape. Simple, but that is what it is supposed to be. It is what it is.

From a growler provided by Joel: Hazy golden hue with little lace or head. The aroma is weak with notes of sweet malts, apricot, apple, and earthy malt. The taste is underwhelming with muted malt and fruits. Was not able to find much else but a lingering pepper upon the finish. The feel is smooth but watery. Okay, it is Belgian "single" table beer but that is no reason for it being completely boring.

On draught during ABR ’08 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a semi-hazy golden amber brew with thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of sweet candi sugar, golden grain malt, some light cloves and white pepper. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of golden grain malt with plenty of yeast, some cloves, banana esters, candi sugar and some mild spices. Finish has a light and mild bitterness that slowly disappears to a light yeast aftertaste.

Dark orange with a large head. Aroma of dry grain, light floral hops and a touch of spice. Thick and chewy malt flavor. Very light spice and a decent helping of yeasty flavors. Seems pretty strong for a Table Beer, but a solid tasting brew anyway.

GTMW ’08. Cask. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a white head. Smelled of corn flakes, clove, and distinct banana candy (ala Runts). Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet. Tasted of honey-touched cereal grain and subdued clove.

Thanks Joel. The beer pours to a hazy orange/copper body with a thin ring head. The flavor is malty, toasted, yeasty. The aroma is toasty, light yeast, pale malts. Medium body, decent texture.
