robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Apr 16, 2007 Gold/Apricot Color with White Head. Sweet Light Grain Aroma. Sweet Malt, Some Light Grains, Light Balancing Hops. Medium Mouthfeel. Towards the End of the Batch, Some Light Fruity Esters Came Through. Overall a Wonderfully Smooth and Sweet Lager...Very Drinkable for 7.5%. CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Mar 21, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Light banana ester froth aroma. Wispy. Pours heavily clouded, pale gold and with a rich banana-tinted foam. Flavor continues with a heavily estery flavor, bold in banana and wheat oils. Totally off-style. Tasty, but in right field. Toothy grain sugars bring up the background and fight with a body of yeast character. Not crisp, nor particularly balanced with good hop presence. For a Lager, it’s a pretty good Belgian Pale Ale. MIBRomeo (1962), Wisconsin, USA Feb 12, 2007 pours an off copper color w/ a foamy white head and some lacing. Odd hop aroma lots of raw sugars kind of a sour note hitns of bread and clove. Avg Pal. Flavor is pretty sweet and has a lightly warm swallow w/ a little bit of a grassy musty hop finish hints of lemon zest. Fair beer. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Feb 11, 2007 From the $16 growler, served in a footed Pilsner Urquel glass at cellar temp. Pours a lightly hazed amber copper, topped by an inch of fluffy white foam. Okay head retention, good lacing. Malt and an odd hint of subtle smoke in the aroma. Crisp and clean flavor - plenty of malt: somewhere between a Vienna and a German Pils in character - blending sweet and dry components. An assertive noble hop rounds out the flavor. The finish has dry malt, but more hops, and a touch of lemon. So smooth, refreshing, fresh, inviting, and drinkable. The alcohol remains hidden until the (hiccup) fourth glass. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Feb 10, 2007 Light dusty gold. Grassy, some noble hops, but the sweetness doesn’t portend good things. Flavor is just too sweet, not nearly enough hops to balance out the sugars here. Finishes a bit astringent. jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 28, 2007 Draft @ BP. I don’t like lagers, but this was more complex than most. A nice offering. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jan 24, 2007 Murky apricot orange in color, appearing as an unfiltered wheat. Friendly clove, grass and sourdough aromas give way to a very lively citrus flavor. Some pear and white grape alonside the oranges. This was a very flavorful lager, crisp and perfectly refreshing, and a wonderful finisher to my evening. I tried it just for kicks but now that first glass certainly won’t be my last.
