Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Jan 30, 2008 Pours an empty hue of mahogany, rimmed with yellow and given to a watery appearance. Sweet, fruity aroma of cinnamon, green apples and french toast; strawberries, cherries, and some dry suggestions of wild rice, minerals, and oily hazelnut. Hefty malt and plenty of warmth. Tastes very sweet and very dry with lots of red apple, pear, and black cherry. Caramel and toffee ride in on a blanketing malt wave; lager yeasts and some salts led some pungency to the back end. Spritzy and slow to warm in the mouth; light to medium in body. Finishes with some citric acids, a bit too watery; fruit tones of peach and apple by this point are very sugary and overripe. Mostly pleasant, with a perfect stride in the cooled but not cold middle, before and after which things are not quite all there.
