jrt (61), USA Jun 1, 2008 This is a really nice beer. Don’t know if it’s a triple. For sure, I would say that it’s a unique, addictive golden ale that defines the difference between complex and complicated. Basically, it all comes down to balance. There’s quite a few distinct flavors, yet there’s no sense of overcrowding the tongue. I get a quick blast of ephemeral spice, toasty malts, sharp cheddar cheese (!), grass, and a bit of sour fruit. All that’s well and good, but it’s important to note that it’s the overall balance and the nice, watery space between flavors that distinguishes this beer from the vast majority of big golden 750’s. Try it. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Dec 15, 2007 Pours a hazy bright golden with a well-lacing wispy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet pale malts and some doughy yeasty notes with a touch of earthy grass. Starts lightly sweet and pale malty with some good Belgian yeasty notes. Finishes mildly bitter and very true to style. A nice tripel. SSSteve (1565), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 21, 2007 hazy gold with a small white head. lemon, citrus, tart aroma. flavor is grainy, creamed corn, and bready yeast with a citrus kick. not really that spicy. medium bodied. kmweaver (2121), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA May 22, 2008 750mL bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a hazy, bold golden color; white head with medium-bubbled lacing. Lots of honey, yeastiness, and esters in the aroma; singular, honey-laden nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: honey, toasty malts, white pepper and soft spicing; an odd, messy tripel with a solid honey core; reasonably tasty stuff, but singular overall. Medium finish: honey, toasty and sugary malts.
