fiulijn (5880), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from Decanter, Milan The color is light amber, too cloudy, but with thin perlage, creamy head and nice lace. It has a good aroma of Belgian yeast in the front, followed by traces of sugar. It has a good body strength, smooth malt flavor, light residual sweetness, spicy (the character of the yeast); unfortunately there are also some vegetable traces from the fermentation or maturation process, getting more evident at the end. The final is reasonably bitter and shows some of the alcohol content. Unrefined. VTHopHead (700), Barre, Vermont, USA Sep 21, 2008 750ml - Poured a slightly cloudy darkish amber in color with a small white head that quickly faded to a thin rim around the beer. Aroma was more than slightly skunky (disappointing!), slightly malty and sweet. Flavor was also quite skunky and disappointing (considering what I paid for this crap). SKUNK is to much to be ignored...it is the dominant characteristic of the beer... yuck! Quite bad... jrt (61), USA Jun 1, 2008 This is a really nice beer. Don’t know if it’s a triple. For sure, I would say that it’s a unique, addictive golden ale that defines the difference between complex and complicated. Basically, it all comes down to balance. There’s quite a few distinct flavors, yet there’s no sense of overcrowding the tongue. I get a quick blast of ephemeral spice, toasty malts, sharp cheddar cheese (!), grass, and a bit of sour fruit. All that’s well and good, but it’s important to note that it’s the overall balance and the nice, watery space between flavors that distinguishes this beer from the vast majority of big golden 750’s. Try it. ryan (1707), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 22, 2008 Courtesy of argo0. Very cloudy pale body with a medium white head. Hoppy nose with cotton candy, some honey and golden fruits. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with golden raisins, caramel, cotton candy, honey and bandaid. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation, slightly medicinal finish. argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA May 22, 2008 (750ml bottle) Medium white head atop hazy, flecked straw body. Aroma is grassy/straw, some skunk, light apricot. Taste is medium sweet, grassy, some honey, light skunk. Medium body, some stickiness.
