Rerate: Watery, more so than the cask serving reuires. Multiple samplings on 5/17/2006. Tap @ #1, High Street. Very dark roasted coffeish. Bitter coffee. Some chocolatey components. Nice looking, and given that this was the end of the keg, I’d say it holds up well. Some hop and fruit rises above the acrid black patent malt. Good.

Opaque black with a dark tan head. Rich caramel aroma. Flavors of dark fruit (cherries, berries) mixed with a subtle roast and residual sugar. A blast of bitterness and alcohol intensifies the beer but does not clean the berries out of the finish. Tasted more like a berry- flavored stout than an imperial.

Nice nose of toasted malts - very coffee like. Sweet coffee flavor very well blended to balance the high alcohol. Very drinkable.

Draught - Aroma of moderate toasted malt, caramel and coffee. Brown/black color with a light brown frizzy head. Full body creamy flavor with average finish. Very drinkable.

Black body, tan head. Nice cocoa powder aroma. Body is med/light for an imperial. Flavor is cocoa & bittersweet chocolate. Thx hopsrus

Very dark opaque brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was peculiar...cocoa powder, wild mushrooms, licorice, and alcohol. The flavor was dominated by a nice cocoa character with some earthy, musty, moldy, mushroom tones in the finish. Crisp, bubbly feel for an imperial.

Opaque black color with a tan head. Musty chocolate and coffee aroma. Fairly sweet chocolate and slight caramel flavors, with a strong bitter coffee bean bitterness and a faint swampy flavor. Fairly thick feel.

This is a very good Imperial stout. I had it on pump at Barley's but I think they must have had some contamination in the lines and it had a bit of a swampy favor. On draught it has a mix of mocha and chocolate aroma, with some roast undertones. Sweet. Moderate to full bodied. Slight acidicity on the tail end. Balanced finish.
