| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2006 On cask at alehouse #1 - Poured cloudy amber with a short creamy tan head that stayed pretty well and laced some. Aroma is pretty much straight up grapefruit hops.. Started out pretty promising. However there was more of a nutty flavor than I expected with a nasty biting aftertaste that seemed to hang on a little past bitter. Some definite grapefruit and pine there but as I’ve had with other ryes this one didn’t seem to smooth the flavor out... Pretty good flavor but the palate was a little rough on this one.. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 7, 2005 Okay, so the sign currently on the wall at Barleys claims this to be an IPA. Not just an ale. That said, this is terrible. An odd earthy grainy aroma, it has the hop bitterness of the style to start, but is disappointly overpowered by subpar malts that leave a bad taste in the mouth. The worst of the Barleys beers I’ve had. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 7, 2005 Good hoppy aroma, but somewhat basic. Flavor is somewhere between an amber and an IPA. Palate is rather hoppy, and a good red color for the brew. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2004 Deep golden color with a bright white head. More actively carbonated than the other Barley’s pints tasted. Good American hop and perfumy rye aroma though delicate by todays standards. Great body to bitterness balance (but light) with some creaminess. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2003 On tap: Medium amber hue with good creamy head and lace. Aroma hinted of toasted malt, biscuit, grainy (rye and hay), piney and grassy hops, and lemon. The taste was crisp and fruity with a rye snap towards the finish. Good overall balance with a smooth malt tone. Pretty nice ale with crsipness to clean my palate when eating. Enjoyable.
