Pours a cloudy opaque orange with a medium white head. Some hops, but a big glaring vegetal note that takes away from what might otherwise be a nice aroma. Medium bodied, but something is off here as well. Bitterness at the end isn’t balanced at all. Somewhat unpleasant. Rciesla (3686), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 Growler from Puddintane (thanks so much!), shared at Peter’s NY gathering - inviting, glowing cloudy golden beer - explosive hop aroma - every kind of hop character you can name - floral, spicy, grassy - the flavor is much the same - kind of an earthy hop onslaught - yea, the malt is there, but probably not in enough abundance to balance it to some people’s taste, which is completely understandable - I really loved the intense bitterness, though - finished peppery, with a hint of grass and citrus - yum. thewombat (112), Brooklyn, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Growler. Aroma of bitter citrus, zesty, with light biscuity malt. Flavor the same, probably more grapefruit than anything else, quite bitter, not much help from the malt. Was expecting big things from this one, but turned out to be "just" solid. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 15, 2009 Sampled via roving growler at Dark Lord Day ’09. Pours a hazy copper amber brew with a thick and creamy beige head that dissipates to a creamy ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of fruity citrus zest, grapefruit, some light caramel malt biscuit. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with a thick flavor of caramel malt, grapefruit juice and zest, with a touch of pine. Finish is mildly bitter, with a lingering sweet grapefruit aftertaste that sticks around. Tmoney99 (4751), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bitter citrus flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout beer. hopson (595), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 5, 2009 draft at the smokehouse- yummy- the best of the Barley’s bunch- extremely hazzy- sufficiently malty and sweet to support a very nice pine/clean/fresh hop flavor and aroma- the guy told me it was about 5-6 percent- apparently not. It was quite good though.
