Commercial Description:
We pulled out all the stops for this one, weighing in at 103 IBUs. We made hop additions in the mash tun, in the grant, of course in the brew kettle, in the fermenter and in the serving tank. Enjoy your bitter experience

Growler at PilsnerPeter’s Ratebeer Spring Gathering. Deep golden beer. Lightly hazy appearance. The aroma is quite hoppy. Soft resinous character, fruity grapefruit and rich earthy bitterness. Lots of chewy pine resin behind a soft sweet maltiness. Not cloying at all. Rich and bright with a bit of lingering fruity/piny hop bitterness. Really tasty.

Draft at the MRAF 2009. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bitter citrus flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Sampled via roving growler at Dark Lord Day ’09. Pours a hazy copper amber brew with a thick and creamy beige head that dissipates to a creamy ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of fruity citrus zest, grapefruit, some light caramel malt biscuit. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with a thick flavor of caramel malt, grapefruit juice and zest, with a touch of pine. Finish is mildly bitter, with a lingering sweet grapefruit aftertaste that sticks around.

PPRBSG09. Growler. Pours a golden body with a thin head. Grassy citrus and nice pine character. A moderate bitterness and etoh warming. Very nice.

On draught at the Smokehouse. The beer pours a hazy orange color with a thin and bubbly off-white head that burns away to a film eventually. Craggy lacing sticks to the glass throughout. Citrusy hops aroma with a touch of malt. Medium-body with a robust bitter hops flavor. Notes of grapefruit/oranges, herbs and grass. Just enough malt balance to keep it from being harsh. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left over. Pretty solid overall.

Growler from Puddintane (thanks so much!), shared at Peter’s NY gathering - inviting, glowing cloudy golden beer - explosive hop aroma - every kind of hop character you can name - floral, spicy, grassy - the flavor is much the same - kind of an earthy hop onslaught - yea, the malt is there, but probably not in enough abundance to balance it to some people’s taste, which is completely understandable - I really loved the intense bitterness, though - finished peppery, with a hint of grass and citrus - yum.
